Strategic Planning

During 2020 a deep strategic planning process was carried out. It was necessary to consider the new scenario and plan the activities undertaken by the Agency.

  1. Acredita CI is an autonomous entity that is no longer supervised by the National Accreditation Commission since 2018.
  2. With 16 years of experience in the development of accreditation processes and quality assurance systems for higher education.
  3. That as of May 2018, 38% of science-based engineering programs in Chile had current accreditation carried out by the Agency with 62% coverage of universities that teach science-based engineering programs.
  4. From 2019 to June 2022, six programs have been accredited under the accreditation model based on international criteria.
  5. Member of two International Accords of engineering accreditation agencies with about 30 participating countries.

 

With the approval of the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile, Acredita CI will develop its activities in the following three areas of performance in the next five years:

  1. Accreditation of engineering programs under international criteria.
  2. Certification of the quality of professional and technical programs in the areas of Administration and Commerce, Sciences, Natural Resources and Technology.
  3. Consulting in quality assurance in Higher Education Institutions.

Vision

Acredita CI is an agency of the Colegio de Ingenieros de Chile A.G., whose purpose is to contribute to the quality assurance of higher education institutions, for all levels of education in the areas of Administration and Commerce, Natural Resources, Sciences and other related areas and for programs in the Technology area as a leader in accreditation processes recognized by international accords.

Strategic Objectives 1. Increase quality added value for higher education institutions by providing accreditation services for Engineering programs under international criteria and improve pre and post process service. 2. Maintain excellence, independence of opinion, transparency in its decisions and its leadership at the national level. Strengthen the image of the Agency. 3. Maintain a permanent relationship with accreditation agencies of engineering programs in other countries to share best practices in the development of accreditation processes. 4. Organize and carry out seminars, workshops, training activities at a national and international level, to help strengthen the best practices in engineering education. 5. Maintain the preparation and continuous training of the external professionals in charge of carrying out the processes. 6. Ensure the financial sustainability of the Agency.

Fundamental Policies


  1. The Agency will maintain a structure and procedures aimed at achieving the excellence in the rendering of its services, the independence of its opinions regarding any external influence and the transparency of its decisions.
  2. The Agency will maintain publicly known Standards of Behavior, a Policy of Conflict of Interests and a Code of Ethics that will determine the highest standards of behavior of its directors, employees and external professionals that participate in its activities.
  3. The Agency will only render its services with the participation of faculty and professionals properly trained to carry out the functions required for such purpose in an efficient and effective manner, thus, creating a registry of faculty and professionals of the areas of knowledge in which the Agency will act with the ability to act in the different functions that it will have, particularly to be part of the Technical Committees and Evaluation Peers.
  4. The Agency will maintain publicly known requirements and procedures for the evaluation of programs and degrees for each area and level of formation of Higher Education, sustained in measurements or objective qualifications in agreement with the progress level of the sciences, technologies and educational methods.
  5. The Agency will have a communication system of its activities for the knowledge of the institutions related with the Higher Education and of the public in general.
  6. The Agency will favor the exchange of knowledge related with the national and international Higher Education, subscribing cooperation agreements with international agencies that have a strong prestige in the formation of technicians and professionals in the different areas of knowledge.
  7. The Agency will carry out periodic workshops or seminars aimed at training and upgrading its professionals and associates in order to maintain a highly qualified body of evaluators of programs and degrees of the Higher Education.
  8. The Agency will promote the importance of guaranteeing the quality of the Higher Education, offering seminars on teaching processes and accreditation.
  9. The Agency will use a commercial policy with a wage structure that allows the recovery of all the costs associated with the rendering of its services and that benefits the shareholders of this society.
